Back Pain Treatment in Mooresville, NC
Back Pain Has a Source. Let’s Find It.
Low back pain is a movement and loading problem — not a life sentence. We find what's driving it, address it at the source, and build your path back to lifting and training.

“Just Stretch More” Isn’t a Plan. Neither Is Learning to Live With It.
The Symptom Management Trap
Stretching, foam rolling, and anti-inflammatories can make back pain more livable. But if the movement issue driving the pain is never identified, the pain keeps coming back — often worse than before.
The “You Just Have to Live With It” Conversation
Active adults with persistent low back pain are sometimes told it’s degenerative, structural, or just part of aging. In many cases, that’s not the full story. Movement quality and loading patterns play a significant role — and those are things that can be addressed.
The Injection or Surgery Default
Injections and surgery are sometimes the right call. But conservative physical therapy — real, one-on-one, root-cause-focused PT — should come first. Many people dealing with low back pain and sciatica avoid invasive procedures entirely when the right plan is in place.
We Find the Cause. Then We Fix It.
Back pain in active adults is typically driven by movement and loading patterns, not structural inevitability. At Renew, we assess the full picture and build a plan that goes beyond symptom management.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about back pain treatment and physical therapy at Renew.
Do I need imaging or an X-ray before starting PT for back pain?
Not necessarily. Many people with low back pain and sciatica start physical therapy without imaging — and get excellent results. If your history or presentation suggests imaging would change the plan, your clinician will discuss that with you. You do not need to wait for results before beginning.
I’ve had back pain for years. Can PT still help?
Chronic back pain is frustrating, especially when previous treatment hasn't held. What matters is whether the underlying movement and loading issues have ever been properly identified and addressed. In many cases they haven't — which is exactly where a root-cause approach makes the most difference.
Will I be able to keep lifting or training while doing back pain PT?
In most cases, yes — with appropriate modifications and guidance. One of the goals at Renew is to keep you as active as safely possible during recovery. Your clinician will identify what training is appropriate at each stage and progress you back to full loading as your back responds.
I’ve been told my back pain is from disc herniation or degenerative changes. Can PT help?
Often, yes. Structural findings on imaging do not always explain the full picture of why someone is in pain or what will resolve it. Many people with disc herniations, degenerative changes, and similar findings respond well to physical therapy. Your clinician will assess your presentation and explain what conservative care can realistically address.
How is Renew’s approach to back pain different from a standard PT clinic?
At Renew, every session is a full hour one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy who is looking at your movement, your loading patterns, and your training demands — not just your symptoms. We use dry needling, manual therapy, and clinical exercise in every visit. No aides, no rushing, no generic programs.
